About Us

Heysham Children’s Centre is located behind the bowling green on Middleton Way in the newly extended and totally refurbished Youth and Community building.
Heysham Children's Centre is at the heart of the community, sharing a management structure with Poulton Children’s Centre but maintaining its own identity. The centre is synonymous with pregnancy and the bringing up of children and provides a friendly face to turn to for advice and support. Everything that we offer is free to families and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Groups We Run

Here are some examples of groups available at Heysham Children's Centre or one of our partner venues:

Antenatal Parentcraft classes
These popular evening classes teach Mum and Dads to be all they need to know to get through labour, birth and the first few weeks of your new baby’s life. Friendly and impartial advice available from your local community midwife. Call for further details.

Baby Clinic with Stay & Play
Come along every Thursday from 2pm – 4pm for the chance to see a health visitor, get your child’s weight checked, make appointments for your child to be immunised and request health visitor prescriptions.

Baby Massage
Held at Mossgate Primary School, Kingsway, Heysham, LA3 2EE. There is off-street parking nearby.
This group takes place between 10am-11.15am on Tuesdays. Also at Heysham Children's Centre 1.30pm-2.30pm every Friday.For babies aged 8 weeks to crawling. All equipment provided. Please bring your own towel with you. Massage may help with sleep problems, colic and constipation, relaxation and bonding with your baby.

A friendly group for local children aged 0-5 years and their parents/carers.

Every Friday.

Tumble Tots

Hourly play sessions on Mondays at Heysham Children's Centre. Under 2 yrs at 9.30am and over 2 yrs at 10.30am.

Stop Smoking Clinic

Wednesdays at 12.45pm-5pm  at Heysham Children's Centre.

Toy Library

We have a large selection of lovely toys that you are welcome to borrow so that you have something different to play with every week. You can borrow a bag for up to two weeks at a time. Just ask our staff to see which ones are available.   

Dad’s Group
We work with the other Children’s Centres in Morecambe to run the Saturday Dads Group based at Westgate Children’s Centre. Please contact them on 409569 for more details.

Family Support and Outreach Work

Citizen’s Advice Bureau sessions and Legal Advice Sessions
Appointments currently available at Poulton Children’s Centre for any parents needing impartial, confidential advice on a wide range of issues including housing problems, debt and family law. If you need an appointment in the Heysham venue please call us on 01524 833644.

Confidential Counselling & Stop Smoking Service
We have a specialist advisor trained to help people stop smoking, and a fully trained counsellor who will see people on a one to one basis, that work from Poulton Children’s Centre. If you need an appointment in the Heysham venue please call us on 01524 833644.

Jobcentre Plus Updates
Advice and information from the Jobcentre is available in the Children’s Centre as well as the touch screen computer link to search for jobs and further information.

Although Heysham Children’s Centre does not provide childcare itself, we are partners with Time 4 Nursery on Heysham Road. For information on daycare that they can provide please call 851288.
