What is a Children's Centre? - Children's Centres offer a number of services to parents-to-be and children under five and their families/carers.

Are Children's Centres open to anyone? YES! Some people think that only those who live in a certain area have access to Children's Centres but this isn't the case. Children's Centres can be used by anyone if they are pregnant or care for a child under five. The facilities can also be used by childminders, playgroups etc.

What services do Children's Centres offer? - Education and childcare, baby and toddler groups, family support and outreach work, child and family health services (this can include speech & language therapy, smoking cessation, breastfeeding and health and safety), links to jobcentres and training providers.

Is it free? - Some services are free but due to budget cuts most centres now make a small charge for groups and activities.
