Poulton Children's Centre is housed within the old Fire Station at Clark St in Morecambe. The building has been transformed into a beautiful, modern space and can be used by anyone if they are pregnant or care for a child under five. The facilities can also be used by childminders, playgroups etc there is a car park on-site but Poulton Children's Centre can also be accessed easily on foot from Morecambe Town Centre. It is situated a couple of streets back from the promenade, not far from Gala Bingo. We recently achieved an outstanding rating from Ofsted and take pride in delivering the best services we can for the community. What We Do
Poulton Children's Centre hosts a variety of groups and activities from Child Health Clinic's to baby and toddler groups. In addition we have a comprehensive family support service. Most groups take place in one of our well-appointed rooms, and our helpful and friendly team will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Charging
Due to recent cuts to our budget there is now a small charge for some of our groups, the charge is £1 for a single child. If you have more than one child the charge is £1.50. Groups that we charge for are highlighted on our What's On Guides as 'Standard CC' in the cost column.

Midwife Drop In & Appointments (Free)
We have a Midwife drop-in for anyone to come along to and we also have appointment only sessions for clients of Morecambe Health Centre.
Antenatal Parentcraft classes
These popular evening classes teach Mum and Dads all they need to know to get through labour, birth and the first few weeks of your new baby’s life. Friendly and impartial advice available from your local community midwife - Sandra Lively: Call Sandra directly on 01524 583863 to book your place.
Child Health Clinic with Stay & Play (Free)
Come along for the chance to see a health visitor, get your child’s weight checked, make appointments for your child to be immunised and request health visitor prescriptions. Stay on afterwards and mix with other parent's and children in the stay and play session.
Baby Massage (Free)
At Poulton Children's Centre. For babies aged 8 weeks to crawling. All equipment provided. Please bring your own towel with you. Massage may help with sleep problems, colic and constipation, relaxation and bonding with your baby.
Baby Time (Standard CC)
A regular group. This session promotes a range of Baby orientated activities including singing and mess play with post natal input.
Bosom Buddies (Free)
A breastfeeding support group made up of a breastfeeding consultant and an informal group of Mums, help and support is available for all breastfeeding Mums.
Baby Yoga
Baby Yoga (£3 per session)
This group is aimed at babies aged from 6 weeks to 10 months and is a great way to bond with your baby.
Boogie Babies (Standard CC)
Held at Poulton Memorial Hall, Church Walk, Morecambe, LA4 5QA
Come along and be prepared to boogie!
Talk, Play & Sing (Standard CC)
At Morecambe Bay School (term time only.)This is a speech and language session with play activities targeting development in these areas. This session is for both toddlers and children.
Jellytots (Standard CC)
A popular group for parents and children run at Poulton Memorial Hall (opposite Poulton Le Sands Primary School). Come along to play, let off some steam and meet other children and parents.
Groovy Movers (Standard CC)
Come along to Poulton Memorial Hall for a fun dance class for children under 5 which benefits parents and children.
Toy Library
We have a large selection of lovely toys that you are welcome to borrow so that you have something different to play with every week. You can borrow a bag for up to two weeks at a time. Just ask our staff to see which ones are available.
Dad’s Group
We work with the other Children’s Centres in Morecambe to run the Saturday Dads Group based at Westgate Children’s Centre. Please contact them on 409569 for more details.
Saturday Club
Come along to the Centre for a range of activities such as Harvey the Magician, stay and play, outdoor sensory play and advice and information. All are welcome especially Dads and working parents.Ring to check when the next session is as this group isn't held every week.
Bright Sparks (Free - £5 for respite)
Support group for families with children with additional needs. At Poulton Children's Centre. There is an opportunity for respite at a cost of £5 per session, call Matt at Poulton on 01524 833644 for more information.
Book Loan
We have a range of books on various parenting topics for parents to borrow so you can “try before you buy”. Ask our staff for details.
Citizen’s Advice Bureau sessions and Legal Advice Sessions
Appointments currently available at Poulton Children’s Centre for any parents needing impartial, confidential advice on a wide range of issues including housing problems, debt and family law.

Confidential Counselling
We have a fully trained counsellor who will see people on a one to one basis at the Centre. Referrals are required, call 01524 833644 for more information.
Jobcentre Plus Updates
Advice and information from the Jobcentre is available in the Children’s Centre as well as the touch screen computer link to search for jobs and further information.
Adult Learning with crèche
Various free courses are available throughout the year offered by the Adult College. Most courses have a free crèche available but booking is essential. Family Learning Courses
We also offer the opportunity for families to learn together on a range of topics, including; Help your child with English, Help your child with Maths; Family Crafts and lots more.
The Sensory Room is located on the first floor of the building and can be accessed via a lift. Inside there is a fantastic selection of equipment including lighting displays and lots of different textures for babies and young children to explore. The room can be used by anyone but is particularly suitable for children with disabilities. The Sensory Room must be booked in advance. Just ring 01524 833644.

Work Club Drop In
This is an ongoing drop in session for those already applying or ready to apply for work. The focus is on one to one support for writing a CV, completing application forms or practicing interview techniques. Childcare advice and free online job searches are also available, advice about benefits can also be arranged.
We have teamed up with Morecambe Bay Primary School in order to provide even more services for local children and families. There is a full programme of activities available at the school, in our newly refurbished families’ room. Just call in for details or call the centre on 01524 833644 for more information.

Although Poulton Children’s Centre does not provide childcare itself, we are privileged to share our building with Morecambe Kindergarten. For information on daycare that they can provide please call 832602.
