Slings and Baby Carriers.

It is becoming more and more common to see parents using slings.  They're so convenient - you can give your baby the cuddles that they desire, whilst having both your hands free to do whatever else you want, plus it's so easy to get around - small shops, cobbled roads, steps, walks in the countryside, are not an issue.  If you'd like to use a sling, it makes a real difference to spend some time finding out what sort of sling would work best for you and get some help with how to use it too, there are lots of videos available on youtube, but nothing quite matches up to getting 1:1 support from a person you can talk to.

Sling School
Sling School is the sister company of our local sling library, Morecambe Bay Slings, and we sell great value, great quality stretchy wraps (just like the ones that you can hire from MBS).  We also run courses for parents and expectant parents who want to learn how to use a sling with a newborn.

The stretchy wrap fabric that we use is thin yet supportive, its cotton softness perfect for wearing against even the most sensitive skin.  The 2-way stretch makes it easy to get a great fit for you and your baby every time.  (Not all brands of stretchy wraps have a 2 way-stretch, it makes a huge difference to the feel).  Our stretchy wraps come in 2 lengths - our 5m is a similar size to other brands, but our 4m is wonderful for either petite parents who could feel like they are drowning in material with a standard one, or for parents who simply feel overwhelmed at the sight of a 5m wrap.  Our 4m wrap can be worn by anyone, simply tie it at your back rather than your front if you're not petite.

Morecambe Bay Slings
At Morecambe Bay Slings, we are passionate about helping parents to use slings safely and comfortably, finding what works for them.  We run sling library sessions every Thursday in the Cornerstone Cafe, Lancaster from 10am-1pm, alternate Thursdays at Kerry's Coffee House, Morecambe, 10am-1pm, and also hold a Saturday library session in Lancaster once a month.  Everyone on the team who helps with slings, is at the very least trained as a peer supporter.  Tamsin, Anthea and Abi have also done sling consultancy training and if you'd prefer a 1:1 session then they are available for consultations for a fee.  We provide our time during sling library sessions for free and are happy to help you either with any of our slings, or with one of your own.  We have a wide range of slings available to hire (well over 100 in stock), so whether you're after buckles, meh dais, woven wraps or ring slings, we'll have something to suit.  We know that a lot of people prefer to keep hiring slings, paying a small amount each month, and trying different things out, changing preferences as their babies grow, so we have membership available which keeps the monthly hire price low, or if you think you might only hire a couple of things before buying, then you can do that too, by hiring as a non-member and leaving a deposit.  We also offer a free 4-week hire of a newborn stretchy sling to parents with babies under 6 weeks old.  Come along to a library session, meet other parents, have a chat, see what type of sling you might like, and leave confident that you know how to use it.  If you change your mind about what sling you hired, you can come and swap it at any library session.
