Parent Education Sessions

You and your partner, friend or relative are invited to attend the Parent Education sessions listed below (exercise/relaxation session are for mothers to be only). The topics covered in these informal sessions are similar to what is included in the evening or weekend parent education programmes held at both the Women’s Unit, RLI and Poulton Children’s Centre, Clark Street, Morecambe.  If you would like to attend any of the sessions listed below just come along.  If you would prefer to attend the other sessions on offer please complete a Parent Education Request Form (you should have been given one of these by your midwife) and return it to me. I look forward to seeing you at one or more of the sessions.

“The Bump”, The Birth and Beyond

Topics such as labour and birth, care of your baby, what to expect after the baby arrives etc will be covered in this new five week programme.  Sessions one, two and five will be run by a local Midwife, session three will be run by a member of staff from the Children’s Centre and session four by a Health Visitor.

Tour of the Women's Unit

Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Ashton Rd, Lancaster

After 30 weeks of pregnancy you can attend a tour of the unit, including a look at the ward and a labour room. The following dates are all available:

Antenatal Exercise, Massage for Labour & Birthing Positions

 You and your birthing partner are invited to attend a parent education session led by an obstetric physiotherapist.  These sessions will be held on the following dates:

  Breastfeeding Workshop

 Come along to a workshop and boost your confidence. Learn "how to do it" and ask any questions you might have. You and your partner, friend or relative are invited to attend a breastfeeding workshop held in the Women's Unit, RLI, Ashton Rd, Lancaster on the following dates:

 Wednesday 14th July 2010 -  1.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m

                    25th Aug 2010 - 1.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.

                  22nd Sept 2010 - 1.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
